Success means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.
We hear that all the time, but really, what is success? What does it mean to you?
To me, it’s freedom – both for me and my clients so that we can have the time and money to live our lives how we want to. I want to give my clients their freedom, it brings me joy when I can take things off their plate and see them enjoy their time while watching their businesses grow and to actually find the love they originally had for their businesses all over again.
But I don’t want to do everything for everyone and end up worn out at the end of the week, I want the same for myself. That’s not selfish, it’s self-preservation. I’m working hard to make sure that I can achieve both objectives.
John Jantsch, author of ‘Duct Tape Marketing’ and ‘The Referral Engine’ summed it up for me when he said:
Success is the freedom to live your life as the great big fat adventure it is – and the wisdom to understand that all you have to do is to choose to do so.
I don’t think that success is actually measurable. Goals are, achievements are, but success? It’s always moving as we evolve, so while it’s great to know what you believe success to be, I believe that having smaller, achievable goals is so much better so that you are continuing to grow and to love what you do.
Your own idea of what it means to be successful might be as simple as being able to afford all your bills each month, a truly worthwhile goal, or it may be as lofty as to be a multi-millionaire, no one idea of success is better than someone else’s, your idea of happiness or success is important to you and that, after all, is all that matters.
